This painting depicts designs associated with the claypan site of Watanuma, north-west of the Kintore Community. The 'U' shapes represent a group of women who camped at Watanuma before continuing their travels east.  The arcs show the windbreaks built by the women and the grid-like design at the outer edges, the sandhills surrounding the site.

Yuyuya Nampitjinpa was born west of Muyinga in Western Australia, just over the Northern Territory border, circa 1946.  Her family moved into Haasts Bluff in the 1950's and later to the newly formed Papunya Community.  She is the sister of the well known artists, Ronnie Tjampitjinpa.
