Hand dyed, chain stitched wool finished with a heavy cotton backing. This rug is born of a cross cultural collaboration between Aboriginal artists and traditional Kashmiri weavers through Better World Arts.

The design for this rug is taken from an original painting by Ruby Williamson relating to sandhill country on her traditional lands.

It is hand dyed, chain stitched wool finished with a heavy cotton backing with a sleeve to hang if desired. 

Ruby Williamson was born c.1940 and is a senior law woman, committed to fostering law and culture, story telling, hunting, 'punu' wood carving, dancing and painting. She has been painting for Minymaku Arts since 2000 and has received attention and acclaim for her contemporary style. She is quite well known for her 'punu' wood blocks, a process that involves burning designss into a wooden surface using a hot wire. Ruby is represented in a number of Australian collections including the National Gallery of Australia which purchased a selection of her prints in 2004.
